Vin Scully has called 7 percent of all MLB no-hitters
When Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw struck out Corey Dickerson of the Rockies on Wednesday night, he recorded the 284th no-hitter in MLB history. An amazing 22 of those (10 in Brooklyn) have been pitched by the Dodgers. More amazing is that iconic play-by-play announcer Vin Scully has called 19 no-hitters, four of them pitched against his Dodgers. That’s one baseball record that will never be broken.
A deeper dive into the stats reveals that Scully has announced 8 percent of the no-hitters in the modern era (since 1901) and almost 12 percent of all no-nos since his career began in 1950.
