Tight end Zach Miller suffers foot injury against the Jaguars
Bears tight end Zach Miller, the breakout star of Bears training camp, left Thursday’s exhibition against the Jacksonville Jaguars with a left foot injury.
Miller, who was playing with the Bears’ first- and second-team offenses, was injured in the second quarter and was quickly ruled out after consulting with team doctors and trainers. He was carted off the field.
Quarterback Jordan Palmer, who is a close friend of Miller’s, described the injury as “heart-breaking.”
It’s definitely tough break for a player who has battled various injuries since the 2010 season, including two stints on injured reserve.
“He was riding high and was so confident, and then you get one of those injuries where it’s not a work-ethic injury,” Palmer said. “It’s not because he’s out of shape; it’s not because of bad technique. It’s just a total bad-luck injury.”
Last week, Miller had six catches for 68 yards and two touchdowns in the Bears’ preseason win against the Philadelphia Eagles. He followed his big performance up with impressive, touchdown-filled practices in Bourbonnais.
