Report: Corey Crawford sprayed Kings fan with water bottle
Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford has been a target of derision by Los Angeles Kings fan throughout the NHL’s Western Conference Final. Now he’s a target of a police investigation for allegedly squirting his water bottle at a Kings fan on Monday, according to a TMZ report.
Clark Wong, 27, reportedly claims he was sprayed by Crawford moments after the goalie was pulled in the third period of Game 4 at the Staples Center. Wong claims the bottle, which is made to spray water, was filled with backwash. The report says Wong filed a battery claim with police after he was ejected from the game for heckling Crawford.
Wednesday morning, Los Angeles police told CBS 2 they are not investigating Crawford.
Asked about ‘BackwashGate’ at the Wednesday morning skatearound, Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said: “I just heard about it on the way over [to the press conference]. First I heard of it so I’m not aware of the situation other than what you just said and what was mentioned about it. I’m not worried about it right now, worried about the game, as Corey will.”
