Cubs ink all but Bryant among top 10 picks
The Cubs have reached agreements with all of their top 10 draft picks except first-rounder Kris Bryant, the slugging third baseman from the University of San Diego, team sources confirmed.
That included the 22-year-old BYU center fielder with only one year of college ball, Jacob Hanneman, a third-rounder who signed an over-slot $1 million deal.
Second-rounder Rob Zastryzny, a left-hander out of Missouri, signed for a below-slot $1.1 million. Fourth-rounder Tyler Skulina, a right-hander from Kent State, signed an above-slot $800,000 deal.
The Cubs expect talks with Bryant, who’s represented by Scott Boras, to go to the July 12 deadline but don’t anticipate problems reaching a deal.
