Week 17: Inside the Bears numbers by STATS
MIDDLE OF THE PACK
The Bears’ defense is ranked at or near the bottom of the league in a number of categories, but when it comes to allowing big plays in the past eight weeks, according to STATS, it is in the middle of the pack.
The Bears have allowed a league-worst 12 runs of 20 yards or more during that time span, but they’ve had success at limiting big pass plays.
The Packers, on the other hand, have been torn apart on the ground and through the air the past eight weeks, allowing a league-worst 46 plays of 20 yards or more.
SOME BIG SACKS
But the Packers’ defense does do one specific thing, according to STATS, much better than the Bears.
The Packers rank among the best in the league when it comes to “big sacks,” which are defined by STATS as sacks on 3rd or 4th down or resulting in a turnover or safety. The Bears are near the bottom of the league.
