Pro Bowler Alshon Jeffery join Bears’ suddenly crowded injury list at training camp
BOURBONNAIS — Pro Bowl wide receiver Alshon Jeffery left practice Monday with what the team called a sore foot, part of a busy morning on the Bears’ injury report at training camp.
Jeffery stopped practicing but did not leave the field at Olivet Nazarene University.
Defensive tackle Jeremiah Ratliff was given the day off by coach Marc Trestman, a piece of courtesy reserved for veterans.
Guard Matt Slauson did not finish practice because due to a sore right shoulder. He said it was simply precautionary; Slauson was cleared to practice last week after offseason surgery on the shoulder.
Cornerback Tim Jennings did not practice because of a nagging sore quad, while safeties Chris Conte (shoulder) and Craig Steltz (groin) remained on the Physically Unable to Perform list.
Wideout Terrence Toliver missed his second-straight practice with an injured toe.
Guard Kyle Long (viral infection) spent Monday at the doctor; coach Marc Trestman said he’d have a better idea of when he will return after he gets the report.
“Any player, no matter how long he played the game, needs to practice and needs to work. It doesn’t matter who they are and what level that they play at,” he said. “Certainly Kyle has missed time. There’s nothing we can do about it. When he gets back here he’ll have to get back into it and make up for some lost time.”
