NIU defensive end Anthony Wells one of four workout players at Bears minicamp
Former NIU defensive end Anthony Wells, a North Chicago High School alum, is one of four players working out with the Bears during mandatory minicamp.
All four — Indiana safety Greg Heban, Nebraska cornerback Ciante Evans, Rutgers defensive end Jamil Merrell and Wells — tried out for the team at the Bears’ rookie mini-camp, too. They are not officially on the team.
The 6-foot-3, 276-pound Wells played in 11 games and started eight of the Huskies’ last nine in 2013, recording 31 tackles and 2 1/2 tackles for loss.
