NFL draft in Chicago? Rahm Emanuel is pushing for it
In an interview with NFL Network’s Rich Eisen, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said Emanuel was one of two mayors in aggressive pursuit of the draft. Bears president Ted Phillips said at the NFL owners meetings in March that Emanuel was interested in hosting the draft.

“There are a lot of cities that are interested in having this in a future. And we’re going to look at that.”
Last month at the Associated Press Sports Editors meetings in New York, Goodell said he was open to taking the draft “on the road” after being at Radio City Music Hall in New York since 2006.
“We’re looking at how we can continue to make the draft bigger and better, more successful, more popular” Goodell said. “That includes maybe staying at Radio City or maybe even taking the draft on the road. We’re looking at other changes that we think could be pretty exciting.”
