Earl Bennett declines pay cut, expects to be released
The wide receiver declined to take a pay cut and expects to be released, sources confirmed to the Sun-Times. A member of the Bears since 2008, Bennett took a $1 million pay cut last season to stick on the roster; he’d spend most of training camp recovering from a concussion.
He was set to make $2.35 million this season.
Bennett’s pending departure opens up the third receiver spot for second-year wideout Marquess Wilson. Domenik Hixon, signed last week as a likely special teamer, will compete for the third receiver spot, too.
