Bears QB Jay Cutler to host charity volleyball tournament in July
With a new long-term deal securing his future in Chicago, Cutler was looking for a new charity event that he could host annually in the area. So enter: “The Jay Cutler Foundation and Tommy Bahama Charity Beach Volleyball Tournament.”
All proceeds from the volleyball tournament will benefit the Jay Cutler Foundation, which supports children with type 1 diabetes.
The goal is to have 30 to 40 teams made up of six to 10 players involved. The winning team will be taken out to dinner by Cutler that night. Teams can register at JayCutlerSix.com.
The cost per team is $1,000. Lunch and beverages, including beer, will be provided. There also will be entertainment. Other sponsors include Subway and Miller Coors.
Cutler signed a seven-year, $126 million extension with the Bears after the 2013 season. Cutler learned he had type 1 diabetes during his third NFL season.
