Bears cut Earl Bennett
The Bears cut wide receiver Earl Bennett on Tuesday, according to the NFL’s transactions report.
Bennett declined to take a pay cut from a $2.35 million salary. He took a $1 million pay cut last season.
Bennett’s pending departure opens up the third receiver spot for second-year wideout Marquess Wilson. Domenik Hixon, signed last week as a likely special teamer, will compete for the third receiver spot, too.
