Bears sign DE Willie Young to 3-year deal
It didn’t take Bears general manager Phil Emery too long to find a defensive end to line up opposite of new addition Lamarr Houston.
The Bears agreed to terms on a three-year deal with defensive end Willie Young, who has spent the past four seasons with the rival Detroit Lions.
His deal is worth $9 million, including $3.95 million guaranteed, a $2 million signing bonus, a $1 million roster bonus and $150,000 in workout bonuses. He has a base salary of $950,000 for 2014.
Young, 28, started 15 games last season for the Lions, finishing with 47 tackles, three sacks and five pass breakups. According to Pro Football Focus, Young produced 60 quarterback pressures in 2014, too.
Young joins a defensive-end mix that includes Houston, David Bass, Austen Lane and Trevor Scott.
