Northern Illinois AD Sean Frazier wants to schedule games against Northwestern
Northwestern isn’t the only college football program in the state of Illinois that is enjoying national accolades heading into the 2013 season.
Coming off its appearance in the Orange Bowl this past January, Northern Illinois has joined the ranks of national up-and-comers, which prompted the school to express its desire to schedule games with the Wildcats in future seasons.
At the Huskies’ Chicago Media Day, newly minted Director of Athletics Sean Frazier said scheduling potential games with Northwestern is something he plans to actively pursue. Fraizer is familiar with Northwestern’s athletic program having come to Northern Illinois from Wisconsin where he most recently served as deputy director of athletics.
“Just knowing the caliber of coaching that’s over at Northwestern—obviously I know the coaches very well—I think it’s a great idea. I think that we should do it,” Frazier said. “I think we should do it quick, fast, in a hurry, and definitely something I will pursue.”
Frazier said he has had discussions with the Wildcats but they are “really, really preliminary.” The Huskies currently have two Big Ten teams on their schedule. They play Iowa and Purdue on the road this season.
