Brandon Marshall says the Cowboys were bothered by the cold
Filling in for quarterback Jay Cutler on ESPN 1000 on Tuesday, receiver Brandon Marshall said he felt good about what would happen against Dallas during the pregame warm-ups when he saw more Bears than Cowboys out in the cold.
“We beat Dallas [Monday] night before the game started,” Marshall said. “There was only handful of Dallas players and I looked around and said, ‘Man, we got these guys.’ The elements were already in their head.”
Monday night’s 8-degree temperature at kickoff was the fourth-coldest to start a Bears game since 1963, when temperatures were first tracked by NFL teams. The wind chill also was 9-below, which also was the fourth coldest since 1963.
“They weren’t there,” Marshall said of the Cowboys during the frigid warmups session. The Bears, of course, won 45-28 behind a dominant offensive performance.
Marshall also said fans were congratulating him for his knock-down block on linebacker Sean Lee. His block, which occurred on a scramble by Josh McCown, definitely resonated in the locker room.
“That was a good block – clean,” receiver Earl Bennett said. “So NFL, don’t fine the guy. That was a great block. One thing we try to do is protect our quarterback at all costs.”
