LIVE BLOG: Brutal cold hits us, again, in #Chiberia II
Once again, we’re getting hammered with some brutally cold weather, forcing flight cancellations, school closings and other forms of mayhem.
SCHOOL CLOSINGS: Chicago Public Schools will reopen Wednesday.
METRA: Piling on to Metra’s problems because of the cold weather, a freight train derailment halted service on North Central Service Tuesday morning. NCS won’t operate again until Wednesday morning, Metra later tweeted.

PARK DISTRICT: Outdoor programs like ice skating are cancelled. Indoor programs are scheduled to proceed as normal, except for those scheduled at CPS facilities.
LIBRARY: The library is open, but it’s extended some due dates so you don’t have to venture out in the cold.
