WASHINGTON–The folk trio of Peter, Paul and Mary performed “If I had a Hammer” and “Blowin’ in the Wind” at the 1963 March on Washington–and on Wednesday–50 years to the day–Peter and Paul returned to the Lincoln Memorial to sing “Blowin’ in the Wind” at the anniversary commemoration.
Peter Stookey and Paul Yarrow sang without Mary Travers–who died in 2009. They were joined on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial by the parents of Trayvon Martin. The couple sang along to the famous refrain, “the answer, my friend is blowin’ in the wind.”
