Jackson family in huddle at federal courthouse
Jesse Jackson Jr. and his family were huddling this morning and Washington DC Courthouse cafeteria.
The Rev. Jesse Jackson and his sons were just part of a contingent of more than a dozen people to offer support to both the former congressman and the former Ald. Sandi Jackson as the two were to learn their fate today.
The Rev. Jesse Jackson stood and gave his son a full, warm embrace when he first appeared before him.
Jackson Jr.’s brothers Yusef and Jonathan also were nearby as were attorneys.
The Rev. Jackson later greeted Sandi, the two sat and conversed for a few moments.
It was clear the family was grappling with the emotion of the day having hired an outside PR firm as well as enlisting the help once again of Judy Smith — the crisis counselor who inspired the hit ABC drama “Scandal.”
A court spokesman today said the judge may initially hold a hearing, listening to both Jacksons and their lawyers, then take a break and return to hand down the sentences.
