Meet Doug Truax, Dick Durbin’s potential 2014 opponent
Downers Grove business owner and West Point graduate Doug Truax (True-axe) will announce Monday morning he is seeking the Republican Party’s nomination for Illinois’ senate seat currently held by Dick Durbin.
“Dick Durbin and his crew have been in charge in Illinois and the United States for years. Their policies are not working, yet they continue to pursue them again and again as we sink deeper into economic stagnation,” Truax says in an announcement video posted to Youtube.
According to their company website, Truax is president and founder of Veritas Risk Services, a company that specializes in “helping large companies manage their health insurance and employee benefit costs.”
Dick Durbin has held an Illinois senate seat since 1996, when he defeated Democratic primary challenger Pat Quinn and then Al Salvi in the general. Durbin was last re-elected in 2008, when he defeated Republican Steve Sauerberg 68-29.
