Target apologizes for security breach, offers 10 percent discount
Frustration with Target has been heard far and wide after information for 40 million debit and credit card accounts were stolen as part of a data breach over Thanksgiving weekend. It was the second-largest credit card breach in U.S. history.
Target CEO Gregg Steinhafel issued a public apology via Youtube on Friday, saying, “I would like to leave with guests is that we value their business, and we appreciate the trust they place in us as a company and as a friend and a community partner.”
“We take this crime seriously. It was a crime against Target, our team members, and most importantly, our guests,” the Youtube video description read.
As part of the apology, all customers will receive a 10 percent discount at Target stores on Dec. 21-22.
