Sue’s Morning Stretch: ROC Race offers fun, game-show challenges
If you’ve ever watched “Wipeout” or the obstacle challenges on “Biggest Loser” and wished you could try that, now’s your chance.
The ROC (Ridiculous Obstacle Challenge) Race is coming to town. ROC Race is a 5k obstacle challenge that freely admits – heck, brags — on its website it draws its inspiration from game shows. Participants do some obstacles you may find in mud runs – swinging across water, tightropes, monkey bars. Then add to that a slew of TV-inspired challenges – including inflatable water slides, jump balls and the wrecking ball. (I would so like to take on the wrecking ball!) Think water park fun, but amped up. Fun is the main event here.
ROC Race will take place – there will be about a dozen different challenges – on July 12 at Cellular Field. Participants must be 13 and over. The registration fee is $79 (for first or second wave of participants; $74 if in the last group), and the price includes a T-shirts and other race-day necessities (bib, pins, free bag check, etc.).
Participants also could raise funds for the Challenged Athletes Foundations through the ROC Race. More information on that and the race is here.
