Ex-TLC manager sues over film portrayal
A huge lawsuit has been filed by the former manager of the girl group TLC. Perri “Pebbles” Reid is suing Viacom for $40 million over the way she says she was portrayed in “CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story,” released on VH1 late last year. The film’s cast included south suburban native Keke Palmer, who portrayed Rozanda “Chilli” Thomas in the movie.
Reid claimed in her filing in Atlanta federal court that the 2013 film portrayed her as “a conniving and dishonest business woman who hoodwinked three innocent girls and exploited their talent for her own personal gain.”
Reid herself is a major R&B star who has sold more than four million albums.
In her lawsuit Reid went on to claim Viacom “ignored fundamental canons of journalistic and literary conduct by publishing false and defamatory accusations with actual malice.”
A Viacom spokeswoman declined to respond, due to a company policy of never commenting on matters during litigation.
